next adventure

Well it’s time for the next adventure and I’m testing out the blog idea again. For my followers lol, you probably recall that my Japan blog helped keep me grounded in 2018. For our new followers, hopefully this is an easy way for people to keep track of us and maybe see some cool pics! If you’re really bored you can read about Japan, which was completely crazy. (Note: I often use the name Anna when traveling for 2 reasons. First, in Italy Andrea is a man’s name. Second, in Japan no one could say Andrea.)

Two things I promised while in Japan that I will adhere to again: First, I only reread stuff one time, so while typos make me crazy, I find it is best to just put your heart in it, check it over, and post it. So I apologize in advance for those of you who notice typos!

Second, I always posted the good, bad, and ugly. I’m not a real social media person so I try not to over-post, but to be forthright about the entire experience.

By now everyone reading this knows that Mike and I are heading to Europe! In the same fashion as when I went to Japan, we have almost no plans. Here is what we know so far:

We will drive to Miami and fly to Rome on January 25, 2023 with no return ticket. We have a hotel for 3 nights in Trastevere, which we have learned is the less touristy part of Rome. Like most of Europe, it’s a walkable city, so we can visit the Vatican and Coliseum within 30 minutes.

From Rome we will head south towards Sicily, where the Undieme family name is from. Mike’s great grandfather came from Sicily when he was a boy and we hear there are many Undiemes (Un-day-ah-may) still in Sicily.

In order to fund this trip, we have put all our stuff in storage and sold Mike’s car. We expect to be gone a few months. Am I freaking out a little? Yes. But Katie’s dog Rocky helps keep me calm 🙂
