Well it’s nearly here. I was up this morning at 4 a.m. realizing I never made a plan for meeting Katie. So I just got off the phone with her in Japan. Katie: “Did you do that thing to your phone?” Nooooooo, what thing? I dunno, ask Dad. Okkkkkkkk, was anyone gonna tell me? It’s easy, reports Katie. Just get off the plane in Japan and get my bags. Reportedly there are signs in English. Then I buy a train ticket at the machine for the Nankai Line to Namba. I can make the machine show the instructions in English. Then I take a one hour train and when I get off Katie will be there. Katie said that finding me will be easy because everyone there has black hair–just don’t leave the platform. At least this is what is supposed to happen. I’ll let you know! Meanwhile, does anyone know how to shut off my Kindle?
This past 2 weeks has been a flurry of visiting family and friends. Thankfully I have had a lot of help getting moved and ready. It has been especially great having my brother visiting from Michigan; he’s been sleeping on an air mattress and watching YouTube videos with me for entertainment in my nearly empty apartment. It is a weird thing thinking that everything Katie and I own is in a 5×10 storage unit except what I’m taking with me (one backpack and one small bag, plus one large purse). Todd took a dresser and desk that belonged to my grandmother, as well as our family rocking chair.
I hoped to write something clever or interesting, but my head is spinning and I just want to get going. Thankfully today I have 5 breakfast/lunch/coffee/dinner plans. Then the very last things to do–unhook the wifi and pack the coffee maker!
Bon voyage everyone, or as we say in Japan……no idea.
